"Internectella bulgarica forms small colonies that appear as very slender, tangled tubules. The species was discovered in Bulgaria in 1972. It seems to be intermediate between two distinct genera, Fredericella and Plumatella, and so it is called Internectella. In Bulgaria the species was considered extremely rare, and in fact only one person was ever able to find it. In 2002 I went to Bulgaria and intensively searched the original sites for a full week, but Internectella had vanished. Imagine my surprise when I arrived in Thailand and found Internectella growing abundantly!! It is one of the most common species in Thai rivers. It may occur through Southeast Asia, but so far we only know about Thailand. "
